Bicaz Gorges National Park Highlights

Bicaz Gorges National Park is best known for the limestone rocks towering over 1,000 ft. above the narrow Cheile Bicazuluipass below and - the Red Lake (Lacul Rosu) - created in 1837 after a major natural landslide.
18 trekking trails allow visitors to discover spectacular scenery and rich wildlife. Bicaz Gorges Park offer unique views of the Ceahlau Mountains.

Flora and Fauna

The alpine wildlife present in the area include: wall lizard (Lacerta muralis), red deer (Cervus elaphus), brown bear (Ursus arctos), lynx (Lynx lynx), wolf (Canis lupus), pine marten (Martes martes) and beech marten (Martes foina).
Wall creeper (Tichodroma muraria), three-toed woodpecker (Picoides tridactylus), rock bunting (Emberiza cia), raven (Crovus corax), capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus), oral owl (Strix uralensis), golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), and great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocops major) can be seen in the park area as well.
