Bucharest's street parking spaces mismanagement is hard not to notice. There are very few parking garages, not many (attended or unattended) parking lots and insufficient street parking, especially in the city-centre. Although prohibited, parking on the side-walk or where parking is not allowed is quite common in Bucharest. Most available public parking in Bucharest is street parking (parallel).
A seven-'element' puzzle adds to the the lack of sufficient Bucharest parking spaces:
The capital of Romania is divided into six boroughs
each with its own administration ("Borough Hall") and a (borough) mayor (primar de sector).
Bucharest also has a City Mayor (Primar General).
There are city managed parking spaces as well as district/borough ("sector") managed spaces.
Bucharest's
six boroughs add their own networks, subscriptions and signs to the city managed parking.
City-managed parking spaces, marked with blue strips
and parking spaces administered by the borough-hall, marked with different colors and signs.
City-managed street parking spaces (PMB spaces):
Paid street parking spots are marked with blue strips.
The parking fee must be paid immediately, after parking spot was taken.
Accessible parking bays are marked with the 'accessible' pictogram on the pavement as well as with a sign.
Blue badge holders can use these bay for free.
Parking is also free for full electric vehicles.
New/expecting mother parking spaces are only available at malls and shopping centres.
Bucharest parking payment options:
The license plate info is needed when paying the parking fee. Please enter all letters and numbers withour spaces or dashes, i.e.: B123ABC
you can park in one space for one or several hours then use another available parking space, nearby or in a different area of the city without having to pay another fee for a different space.
Bucharest day parking allows the use of several parking spaces from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., for the car whose license plate was indicated when getting the pass.
make sure you scan a legitimate QR code that was posted by the municipality.

Borough-managed street parking spaces:
Most parking spaces in residential areas are reserved for residents
and delimited with white strips.
A sign Parcare de Resedinta is usually posted in the area.
If you will need to park your car, for a short time,
on a spot reserved for a resident do leave your phone # on the dashboard
and make sure that you can vacate the space withing five minutes
from the phone request from the resident who has the space.
In boroughs 3 and 4, you will need to pay the parking fee
even if the parking space is reserved - and paid for - by a resident.
In case that you need to vacate the space before the time you have paid for has expired
you can used another, available, parking space using the already existing credit.
