is a tranquil town, of about 16,000 residents,
located along Turia River, in eastern Transylvania.
The Szeklers form the large majority of the population of Targu Secuiesc.
Targu Secuiesc is often called the towny of guilds, shoemakers, and courtyards, or the "Paris" of the Szekely region. The central square is the point from which 72 narrov streets ("udvarterek") radiate out like sunbeams. Other attractions in the area include the Baroque Roman Catholic Church, the Minorite Monastery, revolutionary Gábor Áron Memorial House and, the 15th-century Roman Catholic Church in the village of Lunga.
