In the heart of village Talisoara, in Transylvania, the 14-acres Castel Daniel estate offers a glimpse of life in Transylvania in the 17-th and 18-th centuries. Surrounded by agricultural land and rolling hills, this mid-1600s residence of Daniel family - one of the oldest Szekler families in the Szeklerland - is a fine example of Transylvania Renaissance architecture and decorations.
Late Renaissance stone sculptures and spectacular murals adorn the exterior and the interior of the Daniel Castle. The murals were commissioned around 1680 by count Mihály Daniel (II) and depict significant events in the lives of his father, János Daniel (I), and his grandfather, Mihály Daniel (I), as well as the political and social rise of the family.
